Eighteen years ago I sat next to a young mother on a plane with her newborn. Naturally we talked about her beautiful baby – especially when I discovered that she gave birth to him at home. Naeem’s in college now but here he is as a toddler looking through the viewfinder of my camera. When mama Keniece was about to give birth to her second child, she asked if I would film it. I did. That was 16 years ago. Our film about this family began over 18 years ago. The world has changed since then. Their world has changed but the core of this documentary remains the same: Same family, same soul – only more expansive.
