On October 3rd, I was honored to address a room full of birthworkers who came to hear about the Birth Revolution. Our t-shirts asking “Why is the USA ranked (from 43rd-55th) in the world for infant mortality” were place all around the room. We hung a banner listing 50 actions we can take to make birth better. Some attendees had never seen a woman give birth before so I screened “Birth in a Cow Trough.” We were fortunate to have Robert Herzog PhD, give a thick French accent to his reading of Dr. Michel Odent’s words from the Wild Naked Ladies book. Then we turned to the work of Gene Sharp who wrote FROM DICTATORSHIP TO DEMOCRACY and watched a trailer from the documentary HOW TO START A REVOLUTION. The full documentary is free, online and centers on the work of Gene Sharp. His work was the main influence which started the Birth Revolution. As he suggested, we have a color – Turquoise, a song – “We are here for the birth revolution babies deserve the best” and actions we can take going forward. Onward!
