Exactly 20 years ago on October 12, 2004, Granny Midwife Margaret Charles Smith was in Oakland for the West Coast premier of the documentary MISS MARGARET: The story of life in the Deep South from the perspective of a deeply spiritual and wise midwife. Fortunately, we filmed the reception at AAMLO which turned out to be Miss Margaret’s last public talk.
AAMLO is again hosting a free screening of MISS MARGARET which includes footage from the reception. If you’ve never been to this awesome museum, now is the time to go. You’re sure to meet midwives, doulas and other nice people.
